About
We built the tool we wished existed
Saxalit started as a personal project. A small team of privacy-conscious people who were frustrated with how hard it was to remove their own information from the internet and decided to do something about it.
Who we are
A team that takes privacy personally
We are not a large company with a marketing department and a PR strategy. We are a small team of people who care deeply about privacy because we have experienced firsthand what it feels like to discover your personal information being sold without your knowledge or consent.
Some of us have had our home addresses published on people-search sites. Some of us have received calls from scammers who knew details about our lives that felt unsettling. All of us reached the same conclusion: the data broker industry profits from a system that ordinary people never agreed to and most people do not fully understand.
That shared frustration is what built Saxalit. Not a business opportunity. Not a market gap analysis. Just a genuine belief that people deserve better tools for controlling where their information exists.
What we believe
Personal data belongs to the person it describes
Privacy should be accessible, not a luxury
Honest tools are more valuable than impressive promises
Less data out there means less harm in the world
People should control their own removal process
How we got here
We Googled ourselves
Like most people, we had no idea how much of our personal information was publicly available until we searched for ourselves and found it. Home addresses. Phone numbers. Names of family members. Employment history. All of it, on sites we had never heard of, available to anyone willing to spend a few dollars.
We tried the existing options
We signed up for the automated services. We paid the subscriptions. We waited for the reports. Some of them helped. Most of them felt like we were handing money to companies that promised results they could not reliably deliver. We wanted something we could trust because we could see exactly what it was doing.
We built it ourselves
Saxalit started as an internal tool. A simple tracker that helped us remember which brokers we had contacted, what our opt-out status was, and when we needed to follow up. We added the privacy email feature because we did not want to hand our real addresses to the sites we were trying to get off. We added the priority sorting because not all brokers carry the same risk.
We made it available to everyone
The more people we talked to, the more we heard the same story. They knew the problem existed. They did not know where to start. They tried the automated services and felt uncertain about whether they were working. We decided to make Saxalit available to anyone who wanted a clear, honest, user-controlled path to privacy.
Our mission
Make it easy and accessible for every individual to control where their data is held
The data broker industry is built on the assumption that most people will never find out their information is being sold, and those who do will find the opt-out process too confusing and time-consuming to complete. We are building against that assumption.
Privacy is a right, not a premium feature
The ability to control where your personal information exists should not depend on how much money you have or how technical you are. We built Saxalit to be accessible to anyone, at a price that does not make privacy feel like a luxury.
Honesty about what is possible
We do not promise to make you invisible. We do not claim our automated competitors cannot match us. What we promise is an honest picture of what removal achieves in your state, and the tools to achieve as much of it as possible.
You stay in control
We built a tool that puts the process in your hands, not ours. You see every broker. You know what each opt-out involves. You decide when you are done. Your data, your choices, your results.
Less data out there means less harm
Every piece of personal information removed from a data broker site is a piece that cannot be used to stalk, scam, or target someone. We believe that reduction in exposure has real-world value, and we take that seriously.
The data broker industry profits from a system that ordinary people never agreed to. We think it is time for that to change, one opt-out at a time.
The Saxalit Team
Why we built it this way
We chose user-guided over fully automated on purpose
Fully automated services sound appealing. They promise to do all the work while you do nothing. But research shows that user-submitted opt-out requests achieve a 70% removal rate, while fully automated services achieve around 27%.
The reason is straightforward. Data brokers respond better to direct, individual requests than to bulk automated submissions. When you submit your own request, it carries a different weight. And when you verify the result yourself, you know whether it actually worked.
We are not opposed to automation. We are opposed to automation that makes people feel like something is being done when the results do not back it up. Saxalit gives you the tools to do it properly and the transparency to know when it worked.
